27 stycznia o 9:45, a więc pół godziny przed rozpoczęciem Senatu UWr na placu Uniwersyteckim pod Gmachem Głównym uczelni rozpoczęła się pikieta doktorantów i doktorantek dotycząca złych warunków materialnych w jakich żyją. Mimo siarczystego mrozu (we Wrocławiu rano było około -15 stopni)w szczytowym momencie frekwencja wynosiła ponad 40 osób, uczestników i uczestniczek doktoratów z różnych wydziałów uczelni. Akcja przebiegała bardzo spokojnie. Rozdawano odezwę protestujących. Pod stojącym na placu pomnikiem nagiego szermierza zapalono znicze. Pikieta cieszyła się dużym zainteresowaniem mediów.
Przewodniczący i wiceprzewodniczący rady samorządu doktoranckiego po około 40 minutach udali się na Senat. Władze uczelni uważają, że „nie mogą nic zrobić gdyż uniwersytet rozdziela jedynie środki z ministerstwa”, a jako źródło pieniędzy na życie dla osób na doktoracie wskazują „granty europejskie, ministerialne, i tzw. promotorskie”. Jest to nowa taktyka zbywania protestujących biorąc pod uwagę, że dotychczas dziekani odsyłali doktorantów i doktorantki do rektora, a rektor do dziekanów.
NIE dla komercjalizacji uczelni!
